Life Walk Lesson 14 The Glory of God

Life Walk Bible Lesson 14 — The Glory of God

For Showing Us God’s Greatness

Isaiah 6:1-4

1 It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple.

2 Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew.

3 They were calling out to each other,

‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies!

    The whole earth is filled with his glory!’

4 Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke.”

For Showing Us God’s Mercy

Numbers 14:20-22

20 Then the Lord said, “I will pardon them as you have requested. 21 But as surely as I live, and as surely as the earth is filled with the Lord’s glory,

22 not one of these people will ever enter that land. They have all seen my glorious presence and the miraculous signs I performed both in Egypt and in the wilderness, but again and again they have tested me by refusing to listen to my voice.”

For Showing Us God’s Majesty

1 Chronicles 29:10-12

10 “Then David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly:

“O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel, may you be praised forever and ever!

11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.

12 Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength.”

Psalm 8:1-2

1 “O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens.

2 You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.”

Scripture Reading: John 17 — The Prayer of Jesus

KEY: Sow God’s Love, in Word and Deed, and Cover the Earth with God’s Glory

James 3:17

17 “But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.”

Galatians 5:22-23

22 “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!”

Ephesians 3:14-19

14 “When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,

15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.

16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.

17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.

18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.

19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”

Mark 4:20

20 “And the seed that fell on good soil represents those who hear and accept God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”

Colossians 1:19-20

19 “For God in all His fullness was pleased to live in Christ,

20 and through him God reconciled  everything to Himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.”

Colossians 2:9-10

9 “For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.

10 So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.”

1John 3:16-18

16 “We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.

17 If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion — how can God’s love be in that person?

18 Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”

Believe and you will See the Glory of God

Isaiah 60:1-3

1 “Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.

2 For behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples; but the Lord will rise upon you and His glory will appear upon you.

3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”

Psalm 19:1-4a

1 “The heavens are telling the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.

2 Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.

3 There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard.

4 Their line [sound] has gone out through all the earth, and their utterances to the end of the world…”

“The heavens declare His righteousness, and all the peoples have seen His glory.”

Psalm 73:23-28

23 “Nevertheless I am continually with You; You have taken hold of my right hand.

24 With Your counsel You will guide me, and afterward receive me to glory.

25 Whom have I in heaven but You? and besides You, I desire nothing on earth.

26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

27 For, behold, those who are far from You will perish; You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to You.

28 But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord God my refuge, That I may tell of all Your works.”

Psalm 71:14-24

14 “You crushed the heads of Leviathan [sea monster]; You gave him as food for the creatures of the wilderness.

15 You broke open springs and torrents; You dried up ever-flowing streams.

16 Yours is the day, Yours also is the night; You have prepared the light and the sun.

17 You have established all the boundaries of the earth; You have made summer and winter.

18 Remember this, O Lord, that the enemy has reviled, and a foolish people has spurned Your name.

19 Do not deliver the soul of Your turtledove to the wild beast; do not forget the life of Your afflicted forever.

20 Consider the covenant; for the dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence.

21 Let not the oppressed return dishonored; let the afflicted and needy praise Your name.

22 Arise, O God, and plead Your own cause; remember how the foolish man reproaches You all day long.

23 Do not forget the voice of Your adversaries, the uproar of those who rise against You which ascends continually.”

Isaiah 40:3-5

3 “A voice is calling, ‘Clear the way for the Lord in the wilderness; make smooth in the desert a highway for our God.

4 Let every valley be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; and let the rough ground become a plain, and the rugged terrain a broad valley;’

5 Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all flesh will see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Psalm 102:12-17

12 “But You, O Lord, abide forever, and Your name to all generations.

13 You will arise and have compassion on Zion; for it is time to be gracious to her,

for the appointed time has come.

14 Surely Your servants find pleasure in her stones and feel pity for her dust.

15 So the nations will fear the name of the Lord and all the kings of the earth Your glory.

16 For the Lord has built up Zion; He has appeared in His glory.

17 He has regarded the prayer of the destitute and has not despised their prayer.”

Psalm 108:1-6

1 “My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing, I will sing praises, even with my soul.

2 Awake, harp and lyre; I will awaken the dawn!

3 I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples, and I will sing praises to You among the nations.

4 For Your lovingkindness is great above the heavens, and Your truth reaches to the skies.

5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and Your glory above all the earth.

6 That Your beloved may be delivered, save with Your right hand, and answer me!”

Isaiah 35:1-2

1 “The wilderness and the desert will be glad, and the Arabah will rejoice and blossom; like the crocus

Isaiah 44:22-23

22 “‘I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud and your sins like a heavy mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.’

23 Shout for joy, O heavens, for the Lord has done it! Shout joyfully, you lower parts of the earth; break forth into a shout of joy, you mountains, O forest, and every tree in it; for the Lord has redeemed Jacob and in Israel He shows forth His glory.”

Isaiah 66:18-19

18 “For I know their works and their thoughts; the time is coming to gather all nations and tongues. And they shall come and see My glory.

19 I will set a sign among them and will send survivors from them to the nations: Tarshish, Put, Lud, Meshech, Tubal and Javan, to the distant coastlands that have neither heard My fame nor seen My glory. And they will declare My glory among the nations.”

Hebrews 1:3-4

3 “And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

4 having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.”

Isaiah 52:7-10

7 “How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, Who announces peace and brings good news of happiness, Who announces salvation,

and says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

8 Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices, they shout joyfully together; for they will see with their own eyes when the Lord restores Zion.

9 Break forth, shout joyfully together, you waste places of Jerusalem; for the Lord has comforted His people, He has redeemed Jerusalem.

10 The Lord has bared His holy arm in the sight of all the nations, that all the ends of the earth may see the salvation of our God.”

Matthew 24:14

“The gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

Bringing Glory to God — God Brings Glory to God

Isaiah 6:1-3

1 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners;

2 to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn,

3 to grant those who mourn in Zion, giving them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting.

So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

John 13:31-32

31 “Therefore when he had gone out, Jesus said, ‘Now is the Son of Man glorified and God is glorified in Him;

32 if God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, an will glorify Him immediately.’”

John 17:1

“Jesus spoke these things; and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, ‘Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You

2  even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life.

3 This is eternal life, that they may know You, the Only True God, and Jesus Christ Whom You have sent.

4 I Glorified You on the earth, having accomplishes the work which You have given Me to do.

5 Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.”

Bringing Glory to God

Romans 4:19-21

19 “Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah’s womb;

20 yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God,

21 and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform.”

Romans 15:7

“Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the Glory of God.”

1Peter 4:10-11

10 “As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11 Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

Sharing in God’s Glory

John 17:20-26

20 “I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word;

21 that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.

22 The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one;

23 I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.

24 Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

25 “O righteous Father, although the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me;

26 and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”

God Reveals His Glory Through Us

John 17:10

7 “Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You;

8 for the words which You gave Me I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that I came forth from You, and they believed that You sent Me.

9 I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom You have given Me; for they are Yours;

10 and all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them.”

2Corinthians 3:10-18

10 “For indeed what had glory, in this case has no glory because of the glory that surpasses it.

11 For if that which fades away was with glory, much more that which remains is in glory.

12 Therefore having such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech,

13 and are not like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel would not look intently at the end of what was fading away.

14 But their minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ.

15 But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart;

16 but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”
