Life Walk Lesson 8: God is Light

Life Walk Bible Lesson 8 — God is Light — Accept the Light

Jesus said of Himself, “I Am the Light of the World” in John 8:12, and Paul taught us how to walk as “children of Light” in Ephesians 5:8-10.

It is God’s way of doing things to reveal to His prophets things that have been, things which are, and things which are to come. Let us look at the Book of Job, where God speaks to Job about His creation, and those who rejected His light.

Job 38:12-15

12 “Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place,

13 that it might take hold of the ends of the earth, and the wicked be shaken out of it?

14 It takes on form like clay under a seal, and stands out like a garment.

15 From the wicked their light is withheld, and the upraised arm is broken.”

Eliphaz, son of Esau, who spared Jacob’s life, also speaks to Job, in Chapter 15:17-35, of the wickedness of mankind, which led God to make the decisions He did in regard to removing all evil, and blessing the righteous, as He originally intended. Specifically in verse 25, Eliphaz echoes God’s own words which we have just seen in Chapter 38.

Job 15:25

“For he {the wicked} stretches out his hand against God, and acts defiantly against the Almighty.”

Job 24:1-25 goes on to describe the wickedness in the earth, but lets look specifically at verse 13

“There are those who rebel against the light; they do not know its ways nor abide in its paths.”

Science and the Biblical Record

It has been discussed among many, in recent years, that there is the possibility of untold millions of years occurring between verse 1 and verse 2 of Genesis Chapter 1, due to a battle between good and evil, and a destruction of an original creation, sometime between verses 1 and 2, and a re-creation thereafter. This is corroborated not only by Scripture, but by the messages Kat Kerr gives, as stated above. This also corroborates scientific evidence of the earth’s age in billions of years.

In his compilation of Jewish beliefs, thoughts, and stories over the centuries, Louis Ginzberg in his, Legends of the Jews, Volume 1, (translated from the German Manuscript by Henrietta Szold, 1909; for the Jewish Publication Society of America), states, in the first section, on pages 3 and 4, from “Bible times and characters from Creation to Jacob”:

“In the beginning, two thousand years before the heaven and the earth, seven things were created: the Torah written with black fire on white fire, and lying in the lap of God; the Divine Throne, erected in the heaven which later was over the heads of the *Hayyot; Paradise on the right side of God, Hell on the left side; the Celestial Sanctuary directly in front of God, having a jewel on its altar graven with the Names of the Messiah, and a Voice that cries aloud, ‘Return, ye children of men.’”

[*Hayyot: Hebrew word for the Living Creatures, as described in Ezekiel 1]

Louis Ginzberg goes on to record:

“Nor is this world inhabited by man the first of things earthly created by God. He made several other worlds before ours, but He destroyed them all, because He was pleased with none until He created ours. But even this last world would have had no permanence, if God had executed his original plan of ruling it according to the principle of strict justice. It was only when He saw that justice by itself would undermine the world that He associated mercy with justice, and made them rule jointly. Thus from the beginning of all things prevailed Divine goodness, without which nothing could have continued to exist.”

The Book of Adam and Eve records a definite 5,500 years of history before the coming of Christ as prophesied to Adam when he failed the test in the Garden of Eden after spending five and a half hours in the Garden.

From: The Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha of the Old Testament, Volume 2, R.H. Charles, The Books of Adam and Eve, Page 144, in Chapter xlii:1-5; See R.H. Charles’ introduction for Date and Authorship of this Manuscript, Page 126]

In this account, the Archangel Michael appears to Seth and Eve, when they come to the Garden of Eden to implore God on behalf of Adam, who is dying:

1 “For I tell thee that in no wise wilt thou be able to receive thereof, save in the last days.

2 [When five thousand five hundred years have been fulfilled, then will come upon the earth the most beloved King Christ, the Son of God, to revive the body of Adam and with him to revive

3 the bodies of the dead. He Himself, the Son of God, when He comes will be baptized in the river of Jordan, then He will anoint from the

4 oil of mercy all that believe in Him. And the oil of mercy shall be for generation to generation for those who are ready to be born again of

5 water and the Holy Spirit to life eternal. Then the Most Beloved Son of God, Christ, descending on earth shall lead thy father Adam to Paradise to the tree of mercy.]”

“NOTE: That which is in […] R.H. Charles notes is possibly a Christian interpolation taken from The Gospel of Nicodemus, a Greek work, from Chapter xix of that manuscript.”

From: The Apocalypse of Moses, which is printed parallel to, coinciding with the above passage:

1“And Seth went with Eve near Paradise, and they wept there, and prayed God to send His angel and give them the oil of mercy.

2 And God sent the Archangel Michael and he spake to Seth: ‘Seth, man of God [prophet] weary not thyself with prayers and entreaties concerning the tree which floweth with oil to anoint thy father Adam. For it shall not be thine now, but in the end of the times.

3 Then shall all flesh be raised up from Adam till that great day — all that shall be of the holy people. Then shall the delights of paradise be

4 given to them and God shall be in their midst. And they shall no longer sin before His face, for

5 the evil heart shall be taken from them and there shall be given them a heart understanding the good and to serve God only.”

Since God is Eternal, we must remember, as a Student of the Bible and God’s ways, that the original intent was to be a Family, with God as our Father. A Father commands, and His children obey, and all goes well. When the child of God disobeys, there are consequences, even though upon repentance there is forgiveness of sins.

So, for Adam and Eve the consequence was expulsion from the Garden, and mortality, however the relationship continued, and they were blessed with more children, and the opportunity, at the coming of Christ, to be taken up with Him into Glory along with all the Patriarchs who believed God.

The Book of Adam and Eve is, to me, one of the best ancient manuscripts — relating a one-on-one relationship with God, and the spiritual warfare that comes with it.

It is not written by Adam, but from Adam’s viewpoint, by someone who was inspired to see through Adam’s eyes the difficulties of being a human being — and the first one at that.

When I began to research the Ancient Writings, now available to us because of so many archaeological finds in the late 19th Century, and since, including the Dead Sea Scrolls, I noticed that all the documents I have read have corroborated Biblical truths, except a very few. I have shared some of both so that the Student can see with their own eyes and make the choice to believe God. It is how many of the ancient scholars also perceived the writings of their times. If two or more agree, a thing is established, according to Scripture.

From every Ancient Writing which I have read so far, and will share with you in these Bible Lessons, which give a similar or identical record as does the Book of Genesis, this concept of “a time between” is not absolutely proven yet it is amply implied. The only writing I have found so far which does record other previous creations is found in Louis Ginzberg’s account in Legends of the Jews, Volume 1.

Considering the above ancient Jewish account, recorded by Ginzberg, to be a possibility, isn’t it an even greater wonder then that God chose to show this creation, and this world, His lovingkindness, grace and mercy, by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, the Messiah, and Savior of all mankind, Who died on our behalf so that justice would not demand life for sins committed? [John 3:16-17]

Other than in the account presented by Louis Ginzberg, and the accounts of the personal experiences presented by Kat Kerr and Jesse Duplantis, all other ancient documentation, held to be true by Christianity, shows that there was only one true record of one creation, having one Creator God, Who discussed His ideas and intentions with the Arch Angels, and then did as He decided to do, as presented by Moses in the Book of Genesis.

This does not disprove Jewish tradition or legend. To be fair, it must be considered and presented as a possibility, since it improves our understanding of the immense grace of God, drawing us closer to Him. The testimony of Kat Kerr is thorough in the creation story, which corroborates both Canonized and Uncanonized ancient writings, so I personally value it as it contributes that which was missing in scientific understanding, and adds details of timing to the account in 2Enoch, where God told Enoch how He created the heavens and the earth.

Other Creation Stories

By contrast, the Babylonian creation story records that several gods created the world. Under the rulership of Nimrod, these are described in detail, and are none other than the fallen angels, the watchers who sinned against humanity, whom the pre-flood humans worshipped, as gods since the time of Enosh, according The Ancient Book of Jasher, chapter 2:1-6. Nimrod reinstated the worship of these fallen angels as gods.

1. “And it was in the hundred and thirtieth year of the life of Adam upon the earth, that he again knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bare a son in his likeness and in his image, and she called his name Seth, saying, because God has appointed me another seed in the place of Abel, for Cain has slain him. 2. And Seth lived one hundred and five years, and he begat a son ; and Seth called the name of his son Enosh, saying, because in that time the sons of men began to multiply, and to afflict their souls and hearts by transgressing and rebelling against God.

3. And it was in the days of Enosh that the sons of men continued to rebel and transgress against God, to increase the anger of the Lord against the sons of men. 4. And the sons of men went and they served other gods, and they forgot the Lord who had created them in the earth. And in those days the sons of men made images of brass and iron, wood and stone, and they bowed down and served them. 5. And every man made his god and they bowed down to them, and the sons of men forsook the Lord all the days of Enosh and his children ; and the anger of the Lord was kindled on account of their works and abominations which they did in the earth.

6. And the Lord caused the waters of the river Gihon to overwhelm them, and he destroyed and consumed them, and he destroyed the third part of the earth ; and notwithstanding this, the sons of men did not turn from their evil ways, and their hands were yet extended to do evil in the sight of the Lord.”

Cross Reference: Genesis 6

Note the pattern itself, of how Adam and Eve had two sons, and daughters, according the other Ancient Writings, and waited until Adam was 130 before having other children, which in itself implies a similarity in the ways of God — their “first creation”, or family and then a period of abstinence, or barrenness, and a “second creation”, if you will, a second family.

It is not to say that this is the only way in which God removed His Light from humans, in reference to Genesis 1:1-2, for this “removing of light,” as we know, is also a Spiritual matter.

I share this so that we may understand that when God removes His Light, because His creation refuses it, destruction of well-being in every area of life is the result. In this case, describing a volcanic eruption, the complete breaking up of the earth, and the resulting Ice Age occurred, which Kat Kerr has corroborated in her encounter with God.

When God does not provide, because humans refuse the provision, or they worship demons, who do not care for humans at all, expecting them to provide their daily sustenance, God allows the resulting famines, a result recorded throughout Old Testament Scripture, and alluded to in the New Testament, for Jesus also said, “I Am the Bread of Life” (John 6:35). All sustenance comes from God Almighty. (See also: John 1:1)

The Chronicles of Jerahmeel, by Rabbi Eleazar ben Asher ha-Levi, (12th Century, Historiale, 1809, from Genesis to Maccabees), is a collection of accounts from Rabbis and Sages, who have contributed to the historical and legendary accounts of Biblical History in this Book. It also gives an extensive account of the Creation, which is worth reading.

In light of what we have learned, from both Canonized and Uncanonical Literature, and from the visions and dreams of those who walked with God, consider now:

Isaiah 24:1

“Behold, the Lord makes the earth empty and makes it waste, distorts its surface and scatters abroad its inhabitants.”

And in Jeremiah 18:1-4, God speaks to Jeremiah about “the Potter’s wheel” and how He makes something out of clay, mars it, and makes something new.

The Chronological Study Bible, NKJV, Thomas Nelson Publisher, lists extensively the many Epochs, and includes a wealth of Historical information, including scientific evidence of things which occurred during Biblical times. The time capsule, on page 5, within the Book of Genesis, lists the archaeological finds of tools used since 26,000 B.C. [Also available on Amazon, and on Kindle]
